OFL Violence Conference in Toronto
January 20 and 21, 2006

This 1 1/2 day conference sponsored by the Ontario Federation of Labour's (OFL) Women’s Committee and Health and Safety Committee will highlight violence as an occupational hazard specifically in the health care and education sectors.

A plenary session Friday evening—January 20 will feature speakers who will discuss other provinces' legislative approaches to workplace violence, the importance of bargaining language in Collective Agreements to recognize and address workplace violence, and outline links between domestic violence and the workplace.

Saturday participants will explore the issues related to violence in the workplace, understand the importance of strengthening links between unions, women's rights activists and health and safety activists to address violence in the workplace, and reinforce the need for political action to pressure the government to take action on the issues related to violence in the workplace.

Participants should register for the conference through the OFL and may link to registration forms at
