2010
Celebrating Capital Pride in Ottawa
September 7, 2010 Braving high heat
and humidity, OPSEU took to the streets for the 25th anniversary of Capital
Pride in Ottawa on August 29th.
In a display of
solidarity, OPSEU members proudly carried flags and banners through the city.
Although not the largest contingent, their presence was noticed. Cheers from
the crowd energized the group; cries of "that's my union" gave strength.
The parade ended
at a community information fair, where Rainbow Alliance members handed out OPSEU
merchandise and provided information to Capital Pride participants.
The 2010 Ottawa Pride Parade
featured more than 35,000 spectators and over 70 groups in the parade including
OPSEU.
