International Day for Peace
– Peace Day –
September 21

Afghanistan, Iraq, the Israel-Palestinian Conflict, Guantanamo Bay, Colombia, Darfur…It all seems so hopeless, but September 21st is about hope.  The United Nations International Day for Peace is about rekindling the belief that we can bring peace to this world.  It’s imagining a better world and taking action if only for one day to make it seem, if not be, a little closer.

The first slave who wished to someday have a say in his workplace must have thought that to be an insurmountable dream as well, but he and others worked towards the insurmountable and found that it was possible.

We ask that you get involved on September 21st and strive to keep the dream of a world free of war and violence alive.  There will be many activities across Ontario. Get involved.

OPSEU recognizes the need for second and third world nations to have stability in order to achieve sustainable peace.   You can assist in this process by donating to OPSEU’s Live and Let Live or Social Justice Fund.  For more information on these programs you can check them out on the OPSEU website under Solidarity Funds.

Take care and have a very peaceful September 21st.
