Volunteers needed for First Nations cultural event

June 19, 2012

The Assembly of First Nation (AFN) Annual General Assembly (AGA) will be hosted in Toronto, July 16 -19, 2012. OPSEU is one of the co-sponsors of the cultural events that will run concurrent with the National Chief election. If you would like to get involved the AFN AGA 2012 Host Committee is looking for volunteers.

This year is the 200th anniversary of the War of 1812. First Nations then played a significant role to shape the Canada we know today. There are numerous events planned to highlight and pay tribute to those warriors. A Memorial Procession and Service will kick the week off, followed by an Art Exhibit of the Norval Morrisseau collection, a free concert of First Nation talent, and a theatrical performance of the First Nations contributions to the War of 1812.

Everyone is welcome to help and/ or participate.

To register to volunteer or more information please call 1-416-443-8888 or 1-800-276-7376 or email OPSEUCommunicationsDepartment@opseu.org
