OPSEU takes its message to Liberal Party supporters in Brampton
Sept. 1, 2010
More than 60 OPSEU members attended an early morning information picket at the Lionshead Golf and Country Club in Brampton today to greet Liberal Party supporters. Cabinet Ministers, MPPs and members of the public were asked for their time to talk about unfair wage cuts and corporate tax breaks, and the importance of healthy communities supported by good jobs and quality services.
The event was an opportunity to provide fundraiser attendees with some literature, and introduce them to some public sector front-line workers – who, strangely enough, are regular folks and not overpaid fat-cats!
Picketers requested donations to the Mississauga Food Bank, gifting donors with OPSEU golf balls to wish them well in the game. Over $550 was raised to support the Food Bank, a community service providing support to more than 17,000 area residents.
Thanks go to the owner and management group at the Lionshead Golf and Country Club, who were understanding and cooperative during the event.
