SUN LIFE DEMUTUALIZATION
AN OPEN LETTER TO COLLEGE RETIREES

July 2003

As a result of recent communications to current and former employees of the Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology regarding the distribution of the proceeds of demutualization, several retirees have expressed concern that their retiree benefits with Sun Life may be adversely impacted by the proposed distribution of the demutualization proceeds.

Benefits (life, extended health and dental insurance) for college retirees who participate in the Sun Life plans will in no way be diminished or discontinued as a result of the proposed distribution of the demutualization proceeds.

The communications regarding demutualization have been undertaken in compliance with a court order and are intended to make eligible retired college employees aware of their rights and entitlements arising under the proposed distribution of the demutualization proceeds.

To provide you with further information regarding the proposed distribution of the demutualization proceeds and what it means to you as a retiree, a Demutualization Information Line has been set up. Please call 1-800-322-5857 or 416-620-1277.
