Milloy held to account on CAAT Part-time organizing
November 23, 2010 Further to our web item on
the International Labour Organization report (
http://www.opseu.org/news/press2010/nov-19-2010.htm ), an
exchange was recorded between NDP education critic Rosario Marchese
and the Honourable John Milloy, Minister of Training, Colleges and
Universities, at a recent budget estimate committee debate. Milloy
is the minister responsible for the delays in the CAAT vote count.
“They’re using a loophole to permit colleges not to
unionize, and I know why they’re doing it,” says Rosario to Milloy.
“They’re doing it—and they tell me privately, because none of them
dare say it publicly; they’re just not getting enough financial
support.”
