Convention OKs campaign to fight Task Force
"Portals and Pathways" could destroy bargaining structure

WHEREAS the Investing in Students Task Force has released their report entitled Portals and Pathways; and

WHEREAS the review recommends eliminating the bargaining agent for the employer, the Council of Regents; and

WHEREAS it strongly encourages colleges and universities to develop shared service agreements by offering them a fund of $80 million dollars to assist the colleges in achieving this recommendation; and

WHEREAS the recommendations in the task force report will lead to the decertification of CAAT Support bargaining locals and the erosion of jobs.

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT OPSEU work with the CAAT Support Division to launch a campaign opposing the recommendations in the task force report; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT OPSEU commit funds and organizing resources to mobilize and reorganize the members should the government act on the recommendations which lead to decertification; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT OPSEU share coordinated bargaining even if locals are required to bargain with their College Boards of Governors.
