Dear Sir/Madam:

I am a member of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU) which may be going on strike against the Ontario Colleges of Applied Arts and Technology. While the strike will be temporary, I will not be receiving my salary and my income will be drastically reduced. I will still be an employee of [INSERT COLLEGE NAME HERE] and as a result, I will not qualify for Employment Insurance benefits or welfare.

I will be attempting to reduce or eliminate all my flexible expenses. However, my income will be insufficient to meet my financial commitments. In light of this, I am requesting that if we do go on strike, please consider suspending any collections and possibly waiving or reducing interest until the strike is over, and I am in a position to make payments.

It is my preference to deal directly with you regarding the issue of payment of my account. As such, I respectfully ask that you not place my account with a collection agency until we have had an opportunity to discuss, either over the phone or in person, the details of my situation. I will make myself available to meet with you regarding this matter at your convenience.

Thank you for your assistance and co-operation. If you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me.

Sincerely,
