Faculty Bargaining

March 14, 2006

Dear Ms. Casselman:

At the March Board meeting of the Ontario Confederation of University Faculty Association (OCUFA) this past weekend, Directors representing 14,000 university faculty and academic librarians at Ontario universities passed a  motion expressing solidarity with OPSEU members currently on strike at community colleges across the province.

OCUFA strongly identifies with the concerns college faculty have highlighted in this strike.  The hiring of more full-time faculty, smaller classes and the ability of faculty to spend more time with students are critical issues that profoundly affect the quality of education students in community colleges and universities receive.

OCUFA supports college faculty in this very important strike and would be pleased to offer assistance in intervening with the government to ensure a speedy and successful resolution of the strike.

In solidarity,

Michael Doucet, Ph.D
President
