Campaign to end workplace violence

Dates and locations are being finalized for the remaining workshops, slated for May and June. They will be posted as soon as locations are confirmed.  

April 24, 2008: Community Services bargaining units in
Region 4
are entitled to send a maximum of two members to the workshop on using our health and safety rights to mobilize collectively against workplace violence. The workshop will be held Friday, May 23, 9:00 a.m. – 4: 30 p.m., Days Inn & Conference Centre, 33 Benson Street, Kingston (Division Street and Benson Street) Meeting Room: Salon A. Mar. 31, 2008: Community Services bargaining units in

March 25, 2008: Bargaining units in Region 2 are invited to send a maximum of two members to our workshop on using our health and safety rights to mobilize collectively against workplace violence. March 12, 2008 Region 5 The first of seven workshops (one per OPSEU region) on using our health and safety rights to mobilize collectively against workplace violence will be held Friday, April 25, 8:30 a.m. - 4:30 p.m. at the Toronto OPSEU Office, 31 Wellesley Street East. Nearly one in five violent incidents happen in the workplace, according to Statistics Canada.

The Community Services Divisional Council is launching a campaign to end workplace violence. The Community Services Division includes the following sectors: developmental services, children’s aid societies, child and family services, child care, community agencies, youth corrections, and child treatment centres.

We will hold regional workshops this spring on enforcing workers’ right to a safe workplace. In order to prepare for these workshops, we need your help.
