LONDON: Striking food services workers at Huron College will hold a solidarity rally Friday April 13 to demonstrate the widespread support for their strike against their employer, Compass Group Canada (Beaver Ltd.), contractor for the college’s food court. Outstanding issues in the strike which began March 26 are wages and sick time. The employer, Compass Group, has 400,000 employees worldwide and annual revenues of CDN $27-billion. By contrast, the food court workers’ wages start below the poverty wage level of $10 per hour.
