OPSEU President to join NOSM marches in Sudbury and Thunder Bay on Aug. 23
Warren (Smokey) Thomas, president of the Ontario Public Service Employees Union, will
travel to Sudbury and Thunder Bay on Monday Aug. 23 in a show of support
for striking workers at the Northern Ontario School of Medicine.
“Our members on strike are seeking nothing more than fairness and respect. The support they’re receiving from the local community has been outstanding and I look forward to being there as a reminder that they can count on their union to stand shoulder-to-shoulder with them,” said Thomas.
Thomas will join OPSEU members and other local labour activists in a march and rally in Sudbury starting at 11:15 a.m. Following the Sudbury event, Thomas will travel to Thunder Bay where he will participate in a march and vigil starting at 4:30 p.m.
