District of Parry Sound Social Services Admin Board

Update --- March 5, 2004 Staff at the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board are back to work today after a strike lasting almost three weeks. The 100 members of OPSEU Local 324, including full-time and part-time social services, childcare, and clerical staff, have ratified a five-year deal. Issues in dispute were benefits and the length of the contract. Benefit levels paid by the employer will increase in each year of the contract, to 100 per cent in the final year. Staff will receive 2 ½ percent per year in each of the five years of the contract. The contract will expire Dec. 31, 2008.

February 16, 2004 Staff at the District of Parry Sound Social Services Administration Board went on strike this morning.

Sector 13 - Municipalities
was formed around 1990. The Executive meet every 3 months, usually in conjunction with the All Chairs Meetings in order to discuss issues that may arise from those meetings.

At our Executive meetings we discuss a variety of issues, such as the day to day operation of the sector and developing and maintaining communications with the various locals in the Sector. The main objective of the sector is to achieve sectoral and coordinated bargaining, which means having all locals within the Sector bargaining at the same time with a standard Collective Agreement format. We also try to arrange relevant training for the members that belong to our Sector.

August 23, 2005 Outside workers at the Township of Muskoka Lakes, members of OPSEU Local 326, ratified a three-year deal yesterday (Aug. 22) to avoid an Aug. 23 strike date. The members achieved key gains in the areas of benefits and the joint job evaluation plan. Voter turnout from the 17 members was about 95 per cent and of that number, about 95 per cent voted to ratify the deal, reached through the assistance of a mediator.

The deal expires March 31, 2008 and provides a three per cent increase in each of the three years.
