Town Hall Meeting to STOP Hospital Cuts!

Port Colborne – The first in a series of town hall meetings to stop the cuts to Niagara’s hospitals will be held in Port Colborne Thursday, Sept. 11 at 7 pm, organized by the Niagara Health Coalition.

Niagara’s hospitals are under pressure to make drastic cuts to the core services our families rely upon. These include closure of two emergency departments plus consolidation of obstetrics, pediatrics, mental health and other critical services to a single site.

“With the removal of the emergency rooms and acute services, the small hospitals in Port Colborne and Fort Erie are essentially being turned into clinics, not hospitals. The McGuinty government promised not to close small and rural hospitals, this is a violation of that promise. I truly believe that we can save Port Colborne’s hospital, but we are going to have to fight back now,” said Natalie Mehra, Ontario Health Coalition Director.
