Hamilton Ontario March of Dimes outreach workers say they deserve a fair slice of the funding increase their employer has received.

OPSEU Local 262 hosted a pizza picnic for their members and supporters at Bayfront Park in Hamilton on Monday August 13, 2012 in a countdown to a potential August 16th strike.

Workers at Local 262 unanimously rejected a final contract offer from the employer on July 24. The offer takes away benefits away from the part-time workers and erodes the hours of work for everyone.

“The employer received a 3 per cent increase in funding this year,” said OPSEU Vice President, Eddy Almeida. “There is no reason workers should have to work for less.”

The bargaining team is back at the table with the employer, August 14 and 15. The strike deadline is August 16, 12:01 am.

OPSEU Vice Presiden,t Eddy Almeida, EBM Mike Grimaldi, and EBM Deb Tungatt on hand in support of Local 262.
