OPSEU and Hospital Professionals Why join a union? Who will stand up for you? Who will make sure fair rules are in place and enforced in the workplace? Your union, that’s who! You are a professional; committed to your patients, perhaps regulated by a College. You may wonder if you really need a Union. We believe you do. When layoffs loom, when mergers happen, when services are being privatized; when a new hire got that promotion you thought was yours, or started at a higher wage than you earn. That’s when you need a union. OPSEU knows best how to represent hospital professionals. We can get a better wage deal for you – not just the pay your boss decides you will get. OPSEU is part of a multi-union coalition to fight the privatization of hospitals - the so-called P3 scheme. The P3s threaten medicare by bringing profit into the system. OPSEU also opposes the privatization of CT and MRI clinics that cause poaching of professionals. Professional recognition We take great pride in the high standard of patient care we provide. As a member of a regulated profession, you may be more vulnerable to work-related complaints than the average worker. Should this happen, OPSEU will be there to support you.
