Hospital Professionals Division Members’ Bargaining Survey

The Collective Bargaining Process:   A primer for members

Find out more about the bargaining process

This bargaining survey is being distributed to every professional employee in an OPSEU hospital bargaining unit across the province.  Its purpose is to help your HPD Executive prepare for the Pre-Bargaining Conference for all OPSEU hospital locals being organized for February 13, 2004.   This is an opportunity to voice your concerns and wishes for the next Central Agreement.

Remember that even if your local does not participate in Central bargaining, what is contained in the Central Agreement often directly affects what you are able to achieve in your own local bargaining.  That’s why we’re looking for input from all locals and members before the most crucial decisions are made.

This survey is intended to be completely anonymous.  No attempt will be made to identify you.  (If you do wish to be identified, you may provide your name and number at the end of the survey.)

  1. In the previous round, the HPD executive and delegates to the Central Demand Setting meeting supported the following recommendation regarding the current structure of our wage grids:

That the Central Parties develop a standardized wage grid system with appropriate differentials between classifications which take into account job duties, responsibilities and education.  This may include the reduction in the number of steps on some wage grids and the addition of new grids for classifications not currently covered by the Central grids.

We were not able to achieve this goal in our most recent round of bargaining.  Do you think we should continue to try to achieve this goal or do you think the wage grid structure is fine the way it is?
