Hospital Professionals Division Pre-Bargaining Conference

All members of the Hospital Professionals Division are invited to attend a “Pre-Bargaining Conference” scheduled as follows:

Date:           Friday February 13, 2004

                   Toronto

Time:           9:00am – 5:00pm (*Registration – 8:00am)

Please note: This conference is for all bargaining units in the Hospital Professionals Division, whether or not you have ever participated in the central bargaining process or intend to for the next round of bargaining.

Purpose:

• To educate Division bargaining units on the central bargaining process
• To examine in depth a number of broadly-based issues that are relevant to the forthcoming round of negotiations
• To develop themes for consideration at local demand-setting meetings
• To identify priority issues for bargaining
• Generally to provide guidance and recommendations to the Division members for local Demand-setting meetings. Locals and Units will be free to add to or subtract from the recommended options.

Delegate Entitlement:

Each bargaining unit in the Division shall be entitled to send one (1) delegate.

· Where the bargaining unit is a single unit, the delegate shall be the Local President (or in his/her absence the Local Voce President). In the absence of both the Local President and the Local Vice-President, the delegate shall be elected by the members of the Local

· For all other bargaining units the delegate shall be the highest ranking officer. In the absence of the highest-ranking officer, the delegate shall be elected by the members of the unit.

OPSEU will be arranging hotel bookings.

Please note the following:

· Accommodations are to be shared with another delegate. If you request anything else, it will be your/the Local’s responsibility to pay the difference in cost.

· OPSEU will not pay for accommodation for members living within sixty (60) kilometers of the hotel.

ALL accommodation requests must be received no later than January 7, 2004 in order to guarantee your room. Please fax the Attendance and Advance Forms as well as any Special Needs forms to (416) 448-7451 (Attention Agnela Pereira).
