Arbitrator rules in favour of wage increases at Windsor Hospital
October 6, 2010
An Arbitrator has ruled in favour of increases to wages,
shift premiums and benefits for 400 OPSEU members at Windsor Regional
Hospital.
The employer argued that increases should be denied due
to the Liberal government’s Compensation Restraint plan, and the fact
that the hospital was in a “dire financial situation” and could not
afford to give any increases to its employees. However, Arbitrator Brian
Keller ruled that “it is good labour relations to prefer a central
pattern where one exists” and awarded members the same increases that
were awarded in the HPD Central Agreement.
