September 25, 2003 Supplementary Central Award for Hospital Professionals

Arbitrator Bendel has issued a supplementary award clarifying four issues. The most important among these is clarifying the effect of eliminating the lowest step on the grid for RT and above:

Bendel wrote: "the intent is to move those who were at the start rate to the new start rate, employees at Step 1 will move to the new Step 1 rate, employees at Step 2 will move to the new Step 2 rate, and so on through the grid, and employees at Step 9 will move to the new Step 8 rate, all effective April 1, 2003."

For those not yet at the maximum rate, this will mean additional pay increases of 3.4 to 6.9 per cent.
