OHA still lowballing HPD Team on wages, key economic issues Your bargaining team met with the Ontario Hospital Association team May 7- 9. We are extremely unhappy with the results. We are still far from a settlement.
The OHA team refuses to deal seriously with our priorities. On the economic issues such as wages, early retirement benefits, call back, pregnancy and parental leave, they are still way below where we need to be. They have not even offered us what they gave other bargaining units. Their offer is much less
than what many hospitals are already paying for our classifications.
The employer’s offer shows they are only interested in dealing with their issues. They are more interested in new hires than the needs of their current employees. They are not interested in improving pay or working conditions. There is nothing in their offer that would make us want to stick around and work for
them.
The OHA team refers repeatedly to economic restrictions and the cost implications for this round of negotiations. This excuse won’t fool anyone - cost doesn’t stop the hospitals from expanding the $100,000 Club.
The parties have agreed to voluntary mediation for our next bargaining dates, May 28-31. We will work as hard as we can for a negotiated settlement. By the end of that week we will know if we have a deal or are going to arbitration.
Your support is critically needed - Now! Your team can only do so much at the table. The employer has to realize thousands of members are standing behind the Union team and demanding a fair deal. Make them hear you!
