Bargaining delayed: OPSEU HPD team standing firm on ground rules Your Hospital Professionals Division (HPD) bargaining team was frustrated to find out today that bargaining will not be starting this week. The delay comes as a result of disagreement over the ground rules
for central bargaining.
Before each round of bargaining, the parties negotiate a Memorandum of Conditions document that sets out the rules for central and local bargaining.
We are seeking fair rules – the OHA is seeking to impose restrictions. These restrictions would limit the supporting arguments we can make and the examples we can cite at arbitration should we be unable to reach a negotiated settlement. Your OPSEU-HPD team is standing firm. We need a fair set of rules. And until
we have them we can’t move forward. This means bargaining is delayed.
We are committed to bargaining a strong central collective agreement that is competitive and that improves the working conditions of our members. We need your support to do this. Speak up! Speak out! Tell your manager, labour relations officer and senior management that we want fair ground rules, and we want to
bargain.
Remember, a good contract enables you to provide good patient care.
