Local 274 For Immediate release: November 6, 2003 Hamilton CCAC staff ratify agreement: improvements in wages, vacations, benefits HAMILTON: Staff members at Hamilton’s Community Care Access Centre (CCAC) have ratified a three-year collective agreement with significant improvements in wages, benefits, and vacation. The members of OPSEU Local 274 voted overwhelmingly to ratify the new agreement giving them three per cent increases in each of the three years of the contract, due to expire March 2006. “Our members will see gains in all areas of their collective agreement,” said Maggee Brown, a member of the bargaining team. Other improvements include equalization of vacation time for professional and support staff, dental benefit improvements, top-up for pregnancy and parental leave, job sharing, compressed work week, and bereavement leave. The local represents 187 staff (case managers, placement co-ordinators, and support staff) at the CCAC. The bargaining team was Julie Lenko, Bernadine Nabuurs, Maggee Brown, and Esther MacLean (staff representative). -30- For further information:
