We are pleased to announce that the Joint Pay Equity
Committee has finalized the Pay Equity Plans for the four OPSEU bargaining
units: Support, Lab Services, Thunder Bay and the National Contact Centre (NCC).
The Pay Equity Plans will be posted at all work locations on February 1,
2010.
Although the results show that pay equity exists for the
majority of job classes, pay equity gaps were identified in the following
instances;
• Laboratory Assistants (Support Unit) for the period
September 1998 – March 2005;
• Phlebotomists (Support Unit) for the period April 2000 –
March 2005;
• Customer Service Representatives (NCC Unit) from April
2003 onward.
Accordingly, lump sum payments, less applicable deductions,
will be made for the retroactive adjustments owing. These payments will be
made in two installments;
• March 31, 2010 - retroactivity for the period after
October 1, 2002
• December 31, 2010 - retroactivity for the period up to
September 30, 2002.
Also, the wage rate for CSR - Customer Service
Representatives will be adjusted to the pay equity rate effective February
1, 2010.
OPSEU and Canadian Blood Services will continue working
together to ensure that pay equity is maintained on an ongoing basis.
