Ambulance Division

OPSEU's Ambulance Division and paramedics from Local 250 held a town hall meeting in Owen Sound on the issue of merging paramedical and fire services. More than 150 citizens attended to expess concern.

More than 150 citizens of Owen Sound and Grey County attended a meeting Oct. 21 to discuss the proposal to merge paramedics and firefighters and create "firemedics." The firemedics plan is one of the key municipal election issues in Owen Sound, of particular concern to seniors. Speakers included Dr.Martin McNamara, and Duncan Class, specialists on firemedic issues.

Ruth Lovell, candidate for Mayor of Owen Sound, speaks at the public meeting on the firemedics proposal. Lovell was the only incumbent councillor who attended the meeting, although at least five other municipal candidates attended and heard the concerns of citizens.
