after a very successful round of bargaining. Please see

Highlights of the
Agreement
Term
Three-year
agreement, effective May 1, 2006 to April 30, 2009.
Wages
A wage
increase (with full retroactivity) of:
• 3 per cent
effective May 1, 2006 • 3.5 per cent effective May 1,
2007 • 3.25 per cent effective May 1, 2008 • 0.75 per
cent effective November 1, 2007.
Special
Constable Rate
Members with
a Special Constable designation will receive an
additional $0.50 per hour (total = $1.00/hour) for all
hours worked.
Benefits
For all
full-time employees, dental premiums increased from 90
per cent to 100 per cent; drug card premiums for
diabetic and other prescriptions increased to 100 per
cent employer paid; chiropractor (and other health
practitioners) increase to $40/visit with a cap at one
visit every two weeks
Pregnancy/Parental leave
Increased
from 37 weeks at 93 per cent top-up of salary to all 52
weeks at 93 per cent top-up of salary
Shift
premium
Increase to
evening, night and weekend day: $0.95; Weekend evening:
$1.25
Contracting out
Removal of
all language referencing Contracting Out in the body of
Collective Agreement; developed process to identify
opportunities to contract in; identified process to make
proposal to Board within three months should contracting
out be proposed.
Discipline
Reduced time
when discipline remains on file from three to two years
and included strong language on what can be put on HR
file.
Employment equity/diversity
Language
outlining principles for employment equity and diverse
hiring.
Vision
Care
Vision care
benefit increases to $375 in any 24-month period
effective date of ratification.
Leave of
Absence for President
The Local
President will have full-time leave to attend to union
business on six-month pilot starting January 2007.
Floating
Holidays
Effective
November 15, 2006, Easter Monday and Remembrance Day
(when it falls on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday
or Friday) shall be reintroduced as holidays in addition
to the floating holidays taken away in the last round of
bargaining.
