Education sector unions launch legal challenge to Bill 115
October 10 2012
To
mark one month since the Ontario government’s passage of Bill 115, a joint media
conference will be held tomorrow afternoon in Toronto with the presidents of:
The Elementary Teachers' Federation of Ontario (ETFO)
The Ontario Secondary School Teachers' Federation (OSSTF)
The Canadian Union of Public Employees (CUPE) Ontario
Ontario Public Service Employees Union (OPSEU)
Date: Thursday October 11, 2012
Time: 1:00 pm
Location: Outside Ontario Superior Court of Justice , 361
University Avenue, (south east corner at Armoury St.)
Bill 115 strips teachers, education workers, support staff and
educational professionals of the right to bargain collectively. It sets a
dangerous precedent for similar legislation that is already being proposed for
the broader public sector.
The following presidents will be on hand to outline actions
being taken to defend the rights of working Ontarians and answer questions:
Warren Smokey Thomas, President of OPSEU
Sam Hammond, President of ETFO
Ken Coran, President of OSSTF
Fred Hahn, President of CUPE Ontario
