BARGAINING UPDATES

January 27, 2005

Local 214

Niagara Child and Youth Services
Bargaining Bulletin #5

NEW CONTRACT DEAL ACHIEVED

On Jan. 19, 2005, at 11:00 p.m. after 17 days of bargaining, your team achieved a deal on your collective agreement. This completes a very complex task in merging a union contract with a non-union group and achieved the goal of maintaining the higher standard and equity for all members.

RATIFICATION VOTE MEETINGS

Your team was able achieve an agreement that met our mandate from the membership and provides improvements for all OPSEU members at Niagara Child and Youth Services.

The attached chart provides highlights from the Memorandum of Settlement. Printed copies of the full text of the settlement are also available. Ask your team member for a copy.

Your bargaining team recommends you accept this collective agreement. It is the best you can obtain at this time and it gives an excellent foundation for building future agreements.

You have the final say on what your collective agreement looks like; therefore, the team encourages you to come out and vote. The negotiator and team members will be available to answer your questions.
