It's crunch time:
back to the table Aug. 10-11
Your elected OPSEU bargaining team will be back at the table Aug. 10-11 to try to
negotiate a contract with the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario.
The union team tabled a comprehensive proposal for a new contract over a year ago, on
July 24, 1998. Employer negotiators have been dragging their feet. They have still refused
to discuss any of our demands on monetary issues. They are still demanding huge
concessions – major takeaways that will cost each of us thousands of dollars.
High hopes
While we face big challenges, we have high hopes for the August meetings. But if they
do not result in substantial progress, we, the membership will have to make some hard
decisions about where to go from there. We need to convince this employer that we
take these negotiations very seriously.
