Time for a raise:
SHOW US THE MONEY

After one year of contract talks, the Alcohol and Gaming Commission of Ontario still refuses to talk about a pay raise for its staff.

It’s not as if they don’t have the money. Our work nets a cool $515 million dollars a year for the AGCO. That’s enough cash to pay 10,000 of us – including full benefits!

Of course, our AGCO head honchos haven’t been shy about sharing in the pie.

Last year, Chief Executive Officer Duncan Brown got a 34.6 per cent raise that boosted his salary from $126,251 to $169,995. That’s an increase of $43,744 (not including the brand new company sport utility vehicle, naturally).

Barry Tocher, Director of Licensing and Registration, somehow manages to scrape by on the $124,890 he gets following a $23,075 raise he got last year (up 22.6 per cent).

And while we don’t know how much Investigations Director Michael Sharland was making before, we do know he has now joined the club of elite managers who rake in over $100,000 a year (once again, not including the brand new company sport utility vehicle).

Do you remember your last raise? Was it 34 per cent, or even 22?

It’s time this rich employer got serious about sharing with those of us who do the work that brings in the money.
