Benefit rip-off:
YOU DO THE MATH

Feel like donating $100 a month to the AGCO? The employer’s bargaining team is offering you the chance.

Among the takeaways tabled in contract talks with your bargaining team, the attack on your benefits is one of the worst.

Right now, the AGCO pays the cost of benefits you receive as part of your overall compensation. They want to make you pay 15 per cent of that cost.

Benefits cost about 21 per cent of your gross pay on average. For someone making $40,000 a year, that’s $8,400. Fifteen per cent of that is $1,260, or $105 a month.

If this employer is concerned about the cost of benefits, your bargaining team is willing to talk.  By using group buying power and by eliminating agents' commissions, the OPSEU Joint Trusteed Benefit Plan can provide the same benefits for less - or better benefits for the same cost.

Benefits are not a luxury. They’re a necessity.

So far, the employer’s negotiators are not interested in talking. They just want the money. They just want that $100 a month. From each and every one of us.

Stop the takeaways….
