DO YOU GET
TOO MUCH
VACATION?

Do you think you get too much time off? If you do, your employer is offering relief.

Under a proposal tabled in contract talks with your union bargaining team, the AGCO has demanded a reduction in vacation entitlements for nearly all employees in the OPSEU bargaining unit.

Here’s what we earn right now:

Up to 8 years of service: 15 days of vacation
8 – 15 years: 20 days
15 – 26 years: 25 days
26 or more years: 30 days

In addition, we get an extra five days off at 20 years (one time only) and an extra five days off at 25 years (one time only).

Here’s what the AGCO wants you to accept:

One year of service: one week of vacation
1 – 7 years: 2 weeks
7 – 12 years: 3 weeks
12 or more years: 4 weeks

Since no language is in place about how the employer will recognize seniority/years of service from before the AGCO was created, this may mean everybody gets two weeks' vacation.

It’s not hard to calculate the dollar value of a week’s vacation. For most of us, it’s around $1,000 if you count benefits. But really, you can’t put a price on time off – whether it’s time to be with your family, time to expand your horizons, or simply time to relax and get away from the stressful work we do for the AGCO.

If you value your time, help your bargaining team beat back this unfair takeaway.

Stop the takeaways….
