The Advocate at the Table

Instant Advocate – April 10, 2000

Staff of the Ontario Property Assessment Corporation will take a strike vote April 19.

Delegates to the OPSEU convention from OPAC held a meeting on Friday to get a full report on bargaining. They solidly backed the bargaining team’s position that a strike vote is necessary to get bargaining moving.

In a two-hour meeting, representatives of most OPAC offices expressed the view that the current employer offer is unacceptable. They agreed that a strike vote would give the bargaining team a stronger hand at the bargaining table. Without it, a decent contract is not in the cards.

A series of issue sheets has been prepared, and more will be issued in the near future. We want you to be well informed as you go into this very important vote.

You will get more details shortly on the where and when of the vote. Click here to read the detailed question and answer document.
