Toronto East Detention Centre (TEDC) opens new Staff Engagement Centre

June 10, 2010 TEDC has opened its new Staff Engagement Centre after months of planning and hard work. More… work.

Celebrating diversity, the centre features flags from around the world, representing the staff's different countries of origin.

An honorary wall with plaques pays tribute to Correctional Officers who have passed away.

"The Staff Engagement Centre shows the dedication of TEDC staff," says Local President, Gary Peck. "They are proud of who they are."

"I commend and thank the members, staff and others for this positive initiative and look forward to it improving the lives of all staff at the Toronto East Detention Centre," says Derek Miller, OPSEU Executive Board Member and a Local 582 steward.

The centre opening on June 3rd was attended by OPSEU executive members as well as over 50 staff members and supporters.
