Bargaining 2008

CORRECTIONS RATIFICATION VOTE

Who can vote:

By law, all employees in the Corrections bargaining unit represented by OPSEU are eligible to vote. That includes all OPSEU members and OPSEU non-members, including part-time, casual, temporary, seasonal employees with recall rights and other non-classified employees. It includes those who have not signed union cards. Members on Long Term Income Protection (LTIP), Workers Compensation, maternity and other leaves are also entitled to vote.

What are the classifications in the Corrections bargaining unit:

They include but are not limited to: Correctional Locksmith, Correctional Officer 1 and 2, Grounds/Maintenance Workers, Hairdresser Instructor, Industrial Officer 1, 2 and 3, Probation Officer 1 and 2, Provincial Bailiff 1 and 2, Recreational Officer 1 and 2, Rehab Officer 1 and 2, Trade Instructor 1 and 2 and Youth Worker.

Attendants at Oak Ridge who are on LTIP are in the bargaining unit and therefore are eligible to vote.

Also included in the OPSEU bargaining unit are the former AMAPCEO positions that were transferred to OPSEU, effective Dec. 31, 2008.
