An October 2010 OPSEU Executive Board resolution passed that will sponsor one Health & Safety or Workers Compensation activist from each region to attend the joint Ontario Federation of Labour and Ontario Network of Injured Workers Conference to be held in Toronto, November 25-27. The resolution states: 

THEREFORE BE IT RESOLVED THAT OPSEU sends seven H&S/WSIB Activists (one per region to be chosen by the respective regional vice-president), and the three member MOL MERC team will be automatic delegates to the Joint Ontario Federation of Labour and Ontario Network of Injured Workers Health & Safety and WCB Conference being held in Toronto November 25-27, 2010 at cost of $11,738 with the funds being drawn from the CLC fund; and

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED THAT the seven OPSEU members selected will oppose any recommendations from the panel which threaten union jobs.

Contact OPSEU’s Health & Safety Unit staff if you would like to attend the conference, or if you have already registered and would like assistance with funding. Please be prepared to describe your health and safety and/or workers compensation activities on behalf of OPSEU’s membership to assist OPSEU in the selection process. The Health & Safety Unit staff will forward expressions of interest to the appropriate Regional Vice-President.  The deadline for expressions of interest to receive funding for the conference is November 12, 2010.
