March 22, 2012: The OPSEU Healthcare Divisional Council (HCDC) is
asking member RPNs to fill out a quick on-line survey to help us
identify specific issues for future campaigns.
OPSEU’s HCDC represents more than 36,000 members including more than
250 professional and support job classifications in seven different
sectors. These include members who work in hospitals, emergency medical
services, home care, public health, mental health, long term care homes,
community health centres, family health teams, Canadian Blood Services
and diagnostic services.

Diablogue is now available in French
February 15, 2012: OPSEU’s popular health care BLOG
will be presented in both official languages beginning this week. A project
of OPSEU’s Health Care Divisional Council, the Diablogue is entering its
third year providing on-going news and analysis about Ontario’s health
system. Read by members, journalists, CEOs, politicians and policy-makers,
Diablogue has become an important forum for both patients and providers. In
the past key stories have been translated and posted on the SEFPO site. Now
all postings will be available in both English and French.

Peterborough rally to save hospital services this Thursday
The Peterborough Regional Health Centre has unveiled a
draft plan that will cut more than 170 full-time equivalent jobs, cut
beds and reduce the capacity of the hospital to serve the community. The
Peterborough Health Coalition is organizing a rally to send a message to
their MPP that these services are needed in the community.

Hospital is premature, says OPSEU. In a letter to

Thomas asks the LHIN to overturn a decision by
Headwaters Health Care Centre to close the Shelburne
Hospital.

A long fight over - mental health services get
permanent funding at Lakeridge
January 20, 2010 Diablogue:
At first it looked like a re-run of 2007’s fight to save
mental health services at Lakeridge Health in East
Durham. Without dedicated funding, Lakeridge’s mental
health services stood between the hospital and its legal
obligation to balance its budget. January 19 the Central
East LHIN confirmed their decision to deny Lakeridge the
ability to cut these services, stating new funding had
been found.
