Sector Dues (update) letter from Joe Houlton

March 05, 2003
Dear Sister / Brother,
I am writing on behalf of the OPSEU Child Treatment Executive to advise you that the annual Sector dues for the year 2003 are being requested. The payment of dues keeps your Local in good standing and allows you Delegate status at the Child Treatment Sector Divisional Meeting
held during the BPS Conference.
At the November 1999 BPS Conference, Sector Dues and Sector Bylaws were discussed in the Sector Divisional Meeting. It was identified by the delegates present, that communication in the sector remains challenging given that many of us are in multi unit locals, and that Unit
and Executive Local structures are frequently changing, particularly during this time when many Agencies are in the process of restructuring. This has significantly contributed to the difficulty in maintaining an accurate mailing list to keep the membership informed about Sector Business. Despite this, it was agreed among the delegates that
Sector Dues are necessary and do assist us in promoting the Sector and the important work we do with kids and families.
The dues assist us in covering costs such as mailing, the production of the Child Treatment Sector Newsletter as well as promote Sector Business. In the past we have been able to contribute to Locals’ strike funds (Local 460, Local 567 and Local 258). We believe this has
assisted in promoting in a tangible way, solidarity among the sector membership.
The dues, as per Sector Bylaws are calculated as follows: $1.00 per part time employee and $2.00 per full time employee. The amended Sector Bylaws, as were carried at the November 1999 Divisional Meeting, are enclosed for your reference.
Please be aware that our records continue to need updating. I would appreciate you forwarding the "Sector Membership Update Form" (attached) along with your dues cheque. I have mailed these letters to the contact names currently on file. If
this mailing has been incorrectly forwarded, I apologize and would appreciate it if you could forward it to the appropriate person in your Local so that it can be promptly attended to.
Cheques are to be made out to O.P.S.E.U. CHILD TREATMENT SECTOR and can be mailed to:
