The CAS Provincial Discussion Table (PDT)
Putting Kids First

This year OPSEU, CUPE, the Ministry of Children and Youth, and the Ontario Association of Children’s Aid Societies jointly sponsored an employer forum in February to discuss the potential of resolving key systemic labour issues in child welfare through a Provincial Discussion Table model. The stated goal of this process is to discuss options for increasing labour stability in the child welfare sector during times of change.

The parties at the PDT will meet on June 1-3.

Unsustainable Workload

OPSEU CAS members completed PDT surveys and overwhelmingly identified workload as a major issue.

We have an opportunity to send a message to the Ministry of Children and Youth Services and employers that the PDT needs to address the unsustainable workload issue in the sector. We are asking the government to carry out an independent workload study in consultation with front line workers and to resource its findings.

On June 1 OPSEU CAS locals across the province will ask the government to “Put Kids First.” Go to Event Listings to find out more.
